Personal Care Industry Experience
Bob Bornfriendmanaging personal care productionBob Bornfriend, owner and consultant of Personal Care Process Engineering, has over 35 years of experience in the personal care industry. He has worked for very large companies (Chesebrough-Pond's, Unilever, Alberto Culver – sales over $1B) and small companies (Cosmolab – sales under $100M), so he understands the different mindsets and cultures of both ends of the range. Moreover, he has been dealing with contract manufacturers/copackers (large and small) for most of his professional life, and appreciates the needs and concerns from both sides. Bob has also worked in a wide variety of functions, from R&D to Manufacturing, Process Development and scale-up to Quality Assurance. He is therefore uniquely suited to represent the interests of both large and small copackers and distributors, commercializing a new product and successfully producing a quality product for the first time and on time.

Bob is particularly good at working with different national cultures, having worked with manufacturing plants and copackers around the world. He has a deep interest in learning about the different cultures he finds himself in, and always takes the opportunity to explore the region after the project is complete, which has been a deeply enriching and rewarding experience. For example, although his projects in Australia were all located in and around Sydney, Bob travelled all around the country over the years. Similarly, while in South Africa and Kenya on business, he explored Cape Town, Zambia, and Mozambique before returning home, developing a deeper perspective of the vibrant cultures in those regions. And in Argentina, he travelled to Patagonia and Mendoza where he found to his delight, that wineries use much of the same basic process equipment as in the personal care industry (stainless steel tanks, pumps, filters). Bob and his wife have continued this trend in their personal life, by visiting many other countries such as Mexico, Peru, Egypt, England, Greece, Turkey, India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, China, and New Zealand.
