Process Engineering
Managed a group of process engineers and technicians in support of NPD process development, pilot planting, scale-ups and ongoing technical support to company factories and copackers world-wide. Personally supported NPD activity on a project basis at international locations.

R&D Management
Has had management responsibility for R&D activities in both small companies (e.g., Cosmolab Inc.) and major, global corporations (e.g., Chesebrough-Ponds, Unilever, Alberto Culver), over a wide range of responsibility levels (e.g., manager, senior manager, director, and vice-president) in the Personal Care industry (haircare, skincare, color cosmetics). Experienced in dealing with cross-functional and dedicated project teams.

Contract Manufacturing
Has worked on both sides of the work interface, working 10 years for a contract manufacturer of cosmetic pencils in a variety of functional positions (e.g., technical services, quality control, production, quality assurance, supply chain, etc.). While working for global companies (25 years) that utilized contract manufacturers, managed qualification, monitoring, first production assistance, and ongoing support issues at copackers across the US and around the world.

Cost Savings
Worked as company liaison to PRTM Consulting Group to identify savings opportunities in raw material procurement by consolidating duplicative ingredients and/or vendors. Managed R&D effort to find and qualify alternative sources for raw materials for annual savings exceeding $1MM for 5 consecutive years.

Business Process Re-engineering
Revamped the entire commercialization process for new products, from pilot plant process development to plant scale-up trials to first production qualification, including establishing clear lines of responsibility for technical and financial support.

GMP Compliance
Developed and ran cGMP-compliance program at Cosmolab, including being first responder for FDA audits. Participated in internal GMP audits for Alberto Culver at domestic and international sites and at their copackers. Particular focus was on process water systems (DI, RO). Helped expedite first Validation Master Plan (VMP) at company-owned site and guided preparation of VMP at a new copacker.
